1. HOW DOES BOURNES SELF STORAGE WORK?
Booking storage with Bournes is simple.
Choose your container online, complete your booking, and move in when you're ready. Your storage container is at ground level, so you can drive right up for easy loading and unloading.
Store for as long as you need with flexible monthly terms, and access your container during our opening hours (Mon-Fri between 8.30am and 16.30pm, plus Saturday by appointment only).
If you need extra help, Bournes can also assist with collection, delivery, packing materials, or additional handling support by prior arrangement.
2. WHAT SIZE ARE BOURNES STORAGE UNITS?
We offer two storage options, depending on how much space you need:
- 20ft Steel Container – 160 sq ft / 8ft x 20ft x 6ft
Our largest option which is about the size of a single garage. Ideal for furniture, house moves, business stock, tools, equipment, or longer-term storage needs. With ground-level drive-up access, loading and unloading is quick and straightforward.
- Wooden Internal Container – 250 cubic ft
A smaller indoor storage option is about ¼ size of a single garage. Ideal for boxes, seasonal items and sports equipment, archive storage, smaller furniture, business stock, or when you simply need a little extra space rather than a full container.
If you're not sure which size is right, just ask - we’ll be happy to help you choose the most suitable option.
Because all containers are ground level, loading larger or heavier items is straightforward.
3. WHEN CAN I ACCESS MY UNIT?
You can access your 20' container storage during our opening hours:
Monday to Friday: 8:30am – 4.30pm
Saturday: By appointment
Sunday: Closed
Our storage is designed for customers who want secure, convenient storage without paying extra for 24/7 access they may never use.
Wooden containers are kept in our secure warehouse and require a little notice to access - just let us know in advance.
If your access needs are unusual, speak to us and we'll see how we can help.

9. CAN BOURNES HELP COLLECT OR DELIVER MY ITEMS FROM STORAGE?

Unlike many self-storage providers, Bournes can offer additional support if you need it.
Depending on your requirements, we may be able to help with:

- delivery back when needed
- packing materials
- full removals and storage services via our sister company Bournes Moves.

10. CAN YOU ACCEPT DELIVERIES OR HELP UNLOAD?
If you need supplier deliveries, unloading assistance, or forklift support, we may be able to help depending on the nature of the goods and timing.
11. IS THERE A MINIMUM RENTAL PERIOD?
Our storage is offered on flexible monthly terms.
That means you can store for as little or as long as you need, subject to our standard notice requirements.

13. HOW DO I END MY STORAGE AGREEMENT?
If you no longer need your container, simply give notice in line with your storage agreement.
Before leaving, please:
- remove all belongings
- leave the container empty
- return any access items if applicable
